Reid Security offers a huge range of electronic fire and security services to suit all of our clients' needs. From security consultancy to help you decide what your security requirements are, to full installations and commissioning, Reid Security will be your partner every step of the way.
Our fully trained and experienced staff will visit your premises and discuss with you the aims for your security system and the level of security needed. We can suggest combinations of fire, access control, intruder detection and CCTV systems that will suit your needs and offer you total peace of mind.
Since 2006, all intruder alarm installers must be licensed by the Private Security Authority (PSA) and independently inspected by a standards body to ensure a consistent high standard in the security industry. Reid Electrical fully complies with all legislation and issue certificates for all installations.
If we receive building plans for your premises we can CAD design a full security spec as part of our quotation.

Reid Security can provide intruder detection systems tailored to suit your requirements, be it small homes or large commercial premises we can install the perfect system to suit your budget and level of security needed.
Wired intruder alarms are the most common type of system in Ireland and if you have the option of wiring, such as during a new build or renovation, we would recommend this as wired systems are significantly cheaper than the wireless equivalent.
Wireless systems are used where running cables isn't an option such as finished buildings or some large factories and warehouses etc. We offer fully wireless systems, not one single wire has to be run, this is so quick and easy to install that your home or business could be fully secured in just a couple of hours.
Combined systems allow you to use wireless detectors in some areas and wired in others, very useful in older buildings where some areas cannot be disturbed by drilling etc.
Because we specialise in system integration we can easily enable your intruder alarm to become a home automation system, switching on lights and heating, opening /closing gates, basically anything that has a switch in your home or business can be controlled by text. This is very useful for presence simulation, if you're away on holidays lights can be turned on and off by text to deter burglars.
All our systems can be programmed to text your mobile if there is an alarm activation, the text will tell you what zone was activated, what time and which user unset the system.
All our systems can be connected to a central monitoring station who are on guard 24 hours a day/365 days a year, if your alarm is activated they will contact you, your key-holders and the Gardai if necessary.
Maintenance of your system is very important, even the very best security systems will deteriorate without proper maintenance, so regular servicing is recommended to ensure full protection. Reid Security offers annual servicing and 24hr emergency service on all our systems.
From small newsagents to large office and apartment blocks, all businesses and publicly accessed buildings must have fire alarm systems installed to comply with IS:3218. Reid Security designs, installs and services all types of fire alarm systems and associated devices such as automatic closing fire doors, smoke release vents and emergency lighting.
We service and maintain many commercial systems in community centres, schools and nursing homes. As part of our service we instruct and advise all responsible staff on the best practices to ensure the highest level of safety. Some of our recommendations are listed below
Inspect for any fault indicator showing or fault buzzers operating. Inform the designated responsible person of any fault.
Trigger a call point or detector to ensure that sounders operate. Reset the fire alarm panel. Each week choose a different zone, so all zones are tested in rotation.
Check all previous log book entries and clarify that any remedial action has been taken. Operate all call points and detectors in each zone. Remove mains supply and check that the battery is capable of supplying the alarm sounders. Check that all outputs such as door releases operate on activation.
Clean smoke detectors to ensure quick detection and reduce false alarms.
Replace sealed lead acid batteries.
Annual maintenance of your fire detection and alarm system is required to comply with IS: 3218. Even high spec systems will deteriorate without proper maintenance, so regular servicing is recommended to ensure full protection. Reid Security offers annual servicing and 24hr emergency service on all of our systems.
CCTV is a very important link in your security system, and as such there are many considerations to be taken into account when designing a suitable system. CCTV cameras can be overt to act as a deterrent to vandalism and anti-social behaviour or covert to act as an evidence gathering system to assist with identification and prosecutions. This is why it is very important to use only high quality cameras and DVRs to ensure crystal clear images are recorded.
Reid Security caters for both residential and commercial CCTV clients and will design and install the ideal system for your requirements. You can contact us at any time to avail of our security survey service.
All of our systems come with many built in features and options such as:
View live and recorded footage of your home or business from any PC in the world.
View live and recorded footage of your home or business from your mobile phone (dependent on your handset).
Months of HD quality footage can be stored in our DVRs, all of our systems are fully automatic so discs or hard-drives dont need to be cleared or changed.
All footage can be transferred to DVD at the touch of a button.
CCTV cameras and microphones can be hidden in everyday items such as smoke detectors, light fittings and picture frames. This can be very useful in gathering evidence of shoplifting or theft-by-staff.
Automatic number plate recognition is used in carparks and areas of restricted access; the special high powered cameras record the registrations of every vehicle entering or leaving an area and can be programmed to restrict access to certain vehicles.
With a camera focused on your till and a simple link to your barcode scanner, the name and price of every item sold can be recorded in the systems memory at the exact time of the transaction. This assures you that every item handed to the customer is scanned and registered.
All of our systems can be connected to a monitoring station, so you can be sure that someone is watching your premises 24hrs a day, this is especially useful on construction sites and other areas that would normally require 24hr security guard patrols. Massive annual savings can be made by installing a good quality monitored CCTV system instead of static guards.
As CCTV equipment has become more and more affordable in recent years its popularity in the domestic market has increased dramatically. Homeowners can choose from basic one or two camera systems to eight or even sixteen camera systems depending on the size of the home.
It is important to consider emergency and fire situations when designing an access system. If a fire or other emergency occurs while people are on your premises, they need to be able to exit quickly. All of our access systems are designed to be fully compliant with IS: 3217 and IS: 3218 fire and emergency lighting regulations.
Access control allows you to decide who can enter your premises and when. Particular parts of your building can be off limits to some staff or visitors and not to others. It can be as simple as one keypad opening one door or as complex as hundreds of doors and keypads within a building with different levels of access. Reid Security specialises in all aspects of access control and can integrate our access panels with all other security systems.
A basic access system has two main components; the entry panel and magnetic door release, with many variations of both. The entry panel may require a valid pin-code, swipe card, key-fob, fingerprint or combinations of any of these to grant access.
In large buildings where there is a regular flow of visitors, staff from various sections and temporary staff, it can be difficult to keep track of movement and restrict access to certain areas. With a PCAC system every user gets an ID swipe card and each door is assigned an ID, you decide which doors each card can access.
Because this system is PC based, it only takes minutes to remove users or change which doors can be accessed by each user. A record of every door opening and by which user is stored in the system which is very useful in tracing a persons movement through your premises.

Motorised gates work on the same principal as all access systems; if a recognised code or key-fob is presented, the gates will open. We supply and install many types of motorised gate controls which can even be programmed to turn on driveway lighting when opened.
Intercoms are a 2-way communication system that can be wired to open doors and grant access to a building. We supply voice only and voice & colour video intercom systems.
